The wife finally escaped from his clutches after he subjected her to a sustained attack in which he stabbed her with scissors and hit her with a dumbell. Details of her ordeal emerged at Burnley magistrates court as Miah was locked away for 16 weeks after admitting common assault by beating. He was also given an indefinite restraining order to keep him away from the victim. The sentence means Miah could be free in just two months for good behaviour. The maximum sentence he could have faced was six months.

A 30-year-old woman has been arrested after she confessed to police she beat a homeless man to death with a baseball bat. Forsythia Owen claimed she attacked Denzle Rainey in an alleyway where he had been sleeping rough because he allegedly molested her four-year-old daughter. As she was interviewed by police Owens, of Englewood, Colorado, allegedly swung her arms repeatedly as she demonstrated how she delivered the fatal blows. A post-mortem examination showed his broken ribs had cut into his liver, Fox 13 reported. The 42-year-old had been living rough while he tried to patch up his relationship with his wife and children. Owens, who was arrested on Monday, is being held in Arapahoe County Detention Center and is facing first-degree murder charges, according to 9 News. She allegedly said to officers that the unnamed child told her Mr Rainey had sexually abused her. Police are investigating Owen's claims that he molested her daughter.

Pastor who sexually abused more than 20 women told them the sex acts were necessary as part of a ‘healing hands’ treatment

A California associate pastor has been accused of sexually assaulting several of his parishioners with his ‘healing hands.’ Juan Jorge Castro, 53, of Norwalk, CA., was arrested last Friday for the alleged assault of at least four parishioners, but is suspected of violating upwards of 20. The allegations include repeated abuse of the victims and accusations he used their undocumented immigration status against them. Mr Castro has been formally charged for assaulting only four women, as the other 16 have refused to discuss the crimes with investigators.

The alleged pervert is said by investigators to have told women who came to him for counseling that the sex acts were part of the faith-healing process,’ a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told local media. ‘He claimed to have healing hands and utilized that process to eventually sexually assault them,’ the spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times.

A Florida man has been arrested for imprisoning and trying to perform an exorcism on his elderly girlfriend. David Edward Benes, 54, is accused of imprisoning his 80-year-old girlfriend in their Holiday, FL., home Sept 16 and 17 while trying to perform a drunken, violent two day exorcism on her, according to a police report. This is not the first time he's run afoul of the law for drinking and violence. The couple has lived together for three years, the report said. Police arrived at the house of horrors Sept 17 to find the battered elderly woman’s arms covered in bruises and scratches, said the report. Mr Benes was ‘too intoxicated to talk,’ the arresting officer wrote in the arrest report. The allegedly possessed woman told police she and Mr Benes were involved in a physical altercation the previous evening that ended when her bombed boyfriend physically restrained her because he was trying to ‘exorcise her and get the devil out of her’ against her will.’ The helpless woman was then told by Mr Benes she was not allowed to leave the house, took her car keys, dismantled the garage door opener and even took the batteries out of all the phones to prevent her from calling for help. The victim then awoke in the morning to Mr Benes again ‘exorcising’ her,’ she told cops.

Five-year-old girl brutally raped in Pakistan

Pakistani police say a five-year-old girl is in a critical condition after being kidnapped and brutally raped in the eastern city of Lahore. The girl was found outside a hospital on Friday evening, Lahore police chief Chaudhry Shafiq said, a day after she went missing from a low-income neighbourhood in the city. "We suspect that unknown men kidnapped the girl and after raping her, threw her outside the hospital," Mr Shafiq said. CCTV footage showed a security guard from Lahore's Sir Ganga Ram hospital carrying the victim into the building on his shoulder after he found her lying on the road in a critical condition, Mr Shafiq added. Doctors said the child was raped several times, and after receiving emergency care was transferred to the intensive care unit of nearby Services hospital. Pakistan's Supreme Court has summoned top police officials for an update on their investigation into the crime.

A Roman Catholic priest who took sexually explicit photos of five young girls in his parish - including a two-year-old - has been sentenced to 50 years behind bars. Reverend Shawn Ratigan, 47, pleaded guilty to five counts of producing or attempting to produce child porn last year after church officials sent police flash drive from his laptop containing hundreds of images of children, most of them clothed, focusing on their crotch areas in 2011. He also molested three of the girls as he photographed them, including the buttocks of a two-year-old and the labia and buttocks of a five and nine-year-old. While the victims' families welcomed U.S. District Judge Gary Fenner's decision, the Kansas-area priest was adamant he only deserved a 15 year sentence.

'I know God has forgiven me and my soul is in good shape. I can live at my cousin's house in Nebraska forever out in the middle of nowhere if that's what it takes,' he said. 'I hope that you won’t sentence me to a life of hell on earth. 'Prison is hell, and I know I deserve 15 years. But 50 years? Come on, I don’t think so.' 

There is no parole in the federal prison system, meaning Ratigan will be 97 when his sentence is over. 'Your conduct shows, Mr. Ratigan, that you are a chronic sexual abuser,' Fenner said before imposing the sentence, according to kctv5.com. 'You violated the trust of individuals to an extent that is devastating.' Ratigan’s sensational case led to multiple civil lawsuits against the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and criminal charges against its leader, Bishop Robert W. Finn.
