A 37-year-old Missouri woman has been charged with having illegal sex with a 15-year-old girl and helping her ex-convict boyfriend dispose of her body last year in Truman Lake. Court documents unsealed last week show that Amy Leigh Hartley, 37, of Buffalo, faces charges of statutory sodomy, tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse. The felony complaint shows she also is charged with endangering the welfare of a child by allowing the teen, Khighla Parks, in her ‘uninhabitable’ home, where methamphetamine was made and used ‘to engage in sex with multiple partners, some of whom were known by the defendant to engage in asphyxiation sex.’

After Parks’ September 2012 death, Hartley helped move the teen's body, according to the complaint. Hartley also is accused of washing bedding in an effort to thwart investigators. Anthony Balbirnie, a man described in court documents as Hartley's on-again, off-again boyfriend, has been charged with second-degree murder, statutory rape, child molestation, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse.

Iran's regime carried out a series of revenge executions on Saturday, hanging 16 prisoners in retaliation for a rebel attack which killed 14 border guards. The bloodshed in Sistan-Baluchestan province showed how south-eastern Iran is still affected by a long-running insurgency. Crystal McVea is a 36-year-old married school teacher and mother of four who didn't quite believe in God for most of her life. At the age of three, McVea started to be sexually abused by her drug and alcohol-addicted step father and that abuse continued by him and others until the age of 12. Those experiences made her second guess from a young age whether or not God existed, and if he did, whether he loved her. 'I saw a lot of things that children shouldn't see,' she told WFAA. 'I always believed that God had abandoned me, that he didn't save me, that he didn't love me and I questioned if he was real.' Then, when she was a teenager, she had an abortion. A choice she believed cemented her position as a sinner. 'After that abortion I thought, "I've done it now - if he was real, he could never love me now,"' she told The Blaze.

In December 2009, McVea was taken to the hospital to be treated for pancreatitis when she was accidentally overdosed on pain medication. The last thing McVea remembers is being given the drugs and falling asleep. For the next nine minutes, doctors struggled to revive her as her heart stopped beating. McVea says she was in a more peaceful place. After closing her eyes in the hospital, the next thing she remembers is waking up in heaven. 'I was standing in the most gorgeous light and instantly I recognized where I was. I knew who I was, I knew where I was...' she recalls. In heaven, time seemed to stand still. She recalls being in the presence of two angels - though they didn't look like anyone she had ever met on earth.

Four teenagers have been charged with capital murder in the fatal mugging of a World War II veteran, it emerged today. Terrance Morgan and Edward Johnson, both 19, and Leslie Litt and Geblonski Murray, both 18, were arrested on Monday for the violent death of Lawrence E. 'Shine' Thornton of Greenville, Mississippi. Assistant police chief Andrew Kaho said that each of the teens were also charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. They were initially being held without bond in the Washington County jail pending an initial court appearance but the judge then handed down bonds between $2million and $3million. Kaho says police were called to Thornton's home at 5:30pm on Friday, October 18. The 87-year-old had been accosted in his driveway by two men who 'pushed him down and stole his wallet'. He died two days later after being airlifted to hospital.

Mom horrified as babysitter, boyfriend face 130 charges

BARRIE - The mother of a five-year-old girl says she is “shocked,” “horrified,” and “disgusted” after learning the babysitter she trusted is now charged, along with her boyfriend, with some 130 sex-related offences against young children. The couple, Shayne Lund, 22 and his girlfriend, Avery Taylor, 20, of Orillia are charged with several counts each of counselling and conspiring to kidnap a child, making and selling child pornography, invitation to sexual touching, voyeurism, sexual assault and bestiality.

Lund faces 120 total charges while Taylor faces 16. A third female, Katheryne Thompson, 19, of Orillia, a former girlfriend of Lund, has also been arrested in connection with similar offences and is awaiting a bail hearing. It is not yet known how many charges Thompson faces. Police started their investigation after an alleged victim came forward. Since then, four more alleged child victims between the ages of two and 10 have been identified. Animals have also been identified as victims. The charges are so “disturbing” that the Crown has announced it will be seeking to have the accused deemed dangerous offenders if they are found guilty, which could keep them behind bars indefinitely.

A gunman killed four members of a family and their two dogs and then shot himself to death at a Phoenix apartment complex on Saturday, police said. Officers responded to an emergency call reporting shots fired around 9:15 a.m. local time, said Phoenix police spokesman Sergeant Tommy Thompson. They found a man whose apartment was damaged by gunfire but who was not wounded. In trying to trace the source of the gunfire, the officers narrowed it to two possible units. When a witness reported seeing someone enter one of the residences, police sought to clear the neighboring unit and entered through the back patio, Thompson said. Police found the bodies of two people shot to death on the patio and went inside and found two other slain individuals and two dogs that had also been shot to death, he said. WAKAYAMA — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Wakayama for allegedly beating his 2-year-old son to death, police said. According to police, Kazuki Hara was arrested after his son Seri died of a subarachnoid hemorrhage due to a violent attack in July. Fuji TV quoted a child welfare spokesperson as saying that the boy was taken into care in 2011 after Hara allegedly stomped on him and broke several of his bones. However, the District Public Prosecutor’s Office found that Hara’s guilt could not be proven and ordered a suspension of indictment. While Seri was in care, welfare officials said he met with his father 25 times and stayed at his home on 35 separate occasions. Mohammed Zia, 46, and his brother-in-law Ali Behzad, 36 — who were inside the car that was struck — both died from the crash, officials said. Investigators later found a suicide note scrawled on the body of Saha, who died at the scene, sources told the newspaper. But it was not clear exactly what was written.

Texas teen who committed suicide at school posted Facebook warning

Friends and family of a Texas teen are grieving after he committed suicide at school, warning hours earlier on Facebook that he was planning to take his own life. Adrian Alvaresz, a 16-year-old dad to an infant son, wrote that he was sorry for the pain he was causing his mother and that he felt people in his life “put me to the side.” He asked his friends to help his mom, his ex-girlfriend and his son “stay strong” after his death. He added that he would be his son's "angel" and "mentor," and whisper to him "Everything Was For The Good Of Everyone." Alvaresz’s mom, Maria Consuelo Alcantara, said her son had called her Tuesday asking to leave his north Austin school early. She said no and that he ended the conversation saying, “I love you, mom,” Alcantara told CBS affiliate KHOU-TV.

Man jailed after shooting girlfriend dead in prank where he scared her with gun he didn't know was loaded

A man shot his girlfriend dead with a gun he did not realise was loaded. Investigators said the man, 20-year-old Ramiro Delcid, thought it would be funny to scare Dina Dicochea. Deputies and medical staff arrived within minutes, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Delcid shot Ms Dicochea in the chest with one bullet in his gun in a company truck just before 7pm on Monday in Florence, near Phoenix in Arizona, United States. He called for the emergency services himself and has now been jailed for negligent homicide. Sheriff Paul Babeu said: 'This case is a tragic reminder of how quickly a life can be taken by those who handle firearms irresponsibly.

 'Ramiro took the life of his girlfriend because he thought it would be funny to scare her with a gun. 'His poor judgment and decision-making took the life of this young woman with her entire life ahead.'

Typhoon, mudslides kill 17 in Japan; 50 missing

TOKYO (AP) — A typhoon caused deadly mudslides that buried people and destroyed homes on a Japanese island Wednesday before sweeping up the Pacific coast, grounding hundreds of flights and disrupting Tokyo's transportation during the morning rush. At least 17 deaths were reported and nearly 50 people were missing.
